What Are You Doing?? 

I’ve found myself very reflective this week after visiting my grandpa who has deteriorated very quickly from recent events. It made me think back to some of the enjoyable aspects of my life in previous years, most notably, my gymnastics ‘career.’ At the time I loved every minute of it, who I was in life and what I stood for was largely thanks to my gymnastics training which had been part of my life since the age of four.

While it was necessary for me to stop at the time I did, I do miss it a lot. The strength and power behind everything I did amazes me, all that training and dedication made some of my skills feel so effortless, it was the best feeling in the world doing what I loved. It astounds me seeing what the human body is truly able to do with some persistence and patience, we can do anything we want to do, there really are no limitations in this world.

Going through everything I have been through; many, many surgeries, my gymnastics training, cancer and injuries to every joint, ligament and tendon in my body (I’m not kidding…I could go on for hours detailing my injury list) gets me really upset when I see someone who just doesn’t see what they are really capable of. We are here for a reason, not just to exist and to go through each day and take it as it comes, but to take it by the horns and make the most of it. Life is meant to be lived in the driver’s seat, not in the passenger seat.

In my last post, is alkaline right for you? I mentioned a friend of mine who has Hereditary Sensory and Motor Neuropathy which means the muscles in her legs don’t work as well as they would in you or I so she is only able to walk at her pace and can’t run or jump. But do you think this stopped her from achieving her goals? Not in the slightest! Long story short, after four years of heavy training, she was selected to be part of the Australian Paralympic Wheelchair Basketball team where they came second overall.

So what’s my point? My point is this: What are you doing with your life every day? Are you really living it the way you want? Or are you making excuses as to why you can’t do things?

Below is a quote from a friend of mine:

‘Do you say this?

I don’t have enough time/money/people/experience?

Stop whining… Less is a good thing. Constraints are advantages in disguise. 

Limited resources force you to be resourceful with what you have.’

So being resourceful with what you have got and what you have access to, what do you really want to achieve that you have been putting off for whatever reason?
